As the MSF finale weekend draws closer, the usual spectacular close racing will be even more exciting as up to four drivers are in with a shot of winning the championship title in the Race Car Open category.

This category has seen different winners over three rounds but Round 1 winner Shazull Hisham of LMC Racing Team is still able to maintained his top spot in the championship points table going into the final round. Currently Shazull has 555 points over second place man, Fast Autoworks driver Pee Sau Peng 475 points, and F Tuned Racing’s Syahrizal Jamaluddin with 440 points which is on par with team DNT’s Ahmad Akil.

“For me the points gap isn’t enough and we are seeing that our competitors are getting tougher every round. But I guess there’s a consolation for me as I’ll be going into the last round still leading the championship,” says Shazull. “We’ve had some issues with the car in the previous round but I was also surprised that most of my championship rivals did not finished their race, and this has worked favourably for me and has allowed me to go into the final round with a fighting chance of grabbing the title”.

For the final round the team has indicated that there won’t be much changes to their Honda Integra DC2 R race car but working on further fine-tuning on certain components which would give them a little bit more improvements. “Because of the new technology that we have today, to be honest, I’m still learning and every race is a new chapter for me. Automotive and race technology is constantly evolving so we have new methods to use for setup and tuning, and also, all these needs to gel well with the driver so that everything is in sync. As a driver, I have a good relationship with my race engineer Noor Azman Md Saad (Man), who is also the team principle, so that we can produce a car that has the best setup according to my driving style. And so far, everything is going in the right direction”. Commented Shazull.

LMC Racing Team has done a very good job in the MSF this year with the team competing in 3 categories every round. Aside from the Race Cars Open they have entries in the Proton 1800 class with experienced race car driver Hj Sutan Mustapha doing the driving duties while in the Race Car 1600, seasoned race driver Hasrin Tahir competes in the Proton Satria Neo. As a result of very hard work by the crew and their drivers, this season has seen LMC Racing Team grabbed podium finish for every Round of MSF in the categories that they’ve entered.

“LMC Racing Team has put a lot of effort in helping me reach to where I am now in the 2016 MSF Championship. For the final round, we will approach it with the same principle as we did in the previous round, where we don’t implement any pressure upon our self. We like to think that we are the underdog fighting against the established runners. To be able to compete in the last round, and with a hope of the title, would be a testament of all the hard work the team has done and if god willing, would give us the best result.” Said Shazull.
