PETRONAS & MSF Racing to showcase everyday racers, kicking off with housewife Sharina Ramlle

The awesome beauty of MSF Racing is that it permits anyone and everyone to indulge in their motor racing dreams, given that they have the the interest and passion  to ignite the flame. Step forwards, Sharina Ramlle.

Sharina Ramlle is a normal, hardworking person like you and me, swimming against the stream of life to help create a better world for herself and her family. You could walk past her at the Mall, as she strolls happily with husband Azwan Zulfikle and 3 kids, just another happy family. Sharina is a very dedicated housewife and mother, who spends most of her time focusing on the children ensuring that they get the best care and education.

But come 6 weekends a year throughout 2017, Sharina is something else: she’s an MSF racer!

While the opening story may indicate that Sharina’s family is her sole focus, one may be surprised to learn she is a strong and aggressive licensed racing driver. Seemingly at odds with her daily routine, Sharina always had an eye for motorsport and not just solo time attack runs, but specifically to go door-to-door racing, mixing it with The Boys amongst 60 other cars at a time in each race.

Sharina’s interest fueled her to partake in small amateur karting events in 2014. From there, she took part in a handful of small circuit time attack events with her car, and as of this year, full bore participation in MSF Racing Series.

Moving further up in the motorsport chain one usually requires some pretty hefty investment, but thanks to Malaysia Speed Festival (MSF) – which focuses of keeping racing affordable, while entertaining and safe at the same time – Sharina has managed to leap into the saloon car racing scene.

Sharina shares a powerful turbocharged 1500cc Toyota Starlet with her husband – who also personally prepares the car at his own workshop. She races against a string of hardcore opponents in MSF’s Street Tuned Limited category, admittedly one of the most diverse and most competitive categories in the Series with cars ranging from Honda Civic EF VTEC to turbocharged BMW E30 to a sleek Toyota Celica ZZT231. With her children and husband as her inspiration, Sharina races in all championship rounds, fine tuning her race craft further as she experience builds.

Sharina is just one of the many and diverse group of people that have managed to light their passion at MSF. There are many more like Sharina, everyday people with everyday jobs and responsibilities who chase their dreams at the Malaysia Speed Festival. With this, PETRONAS and MSF have teamed up to highlight Sharina and more like her. The three-part video series featuring these individuals will be released over the next two weeks starting from today, leading up to the MSF Finale event happening on December 2 & 3 at the Sepang International Circuit.

The last race of the 2017 season will feature an array of motorsport activities encompassing MSF Racing Series, where up to 177 cars race door-to-door in exciting 5-lap races. For the first time, there will be a new MSF Superbikes category for superbikes taking to the track, while the new MSF Drift Gonzo will feature a target-style drifting competition, the first in Malaysia.

Also taking place is MSF MegaLAP, a Time Attack competition showcasing some of the quickest single-lap cars in the country, as well as the Mcclubz Car Show with 150 cars. Grandstand access is free for all, and there will be a free mini waterpark for all kids to enjoy, supported by food trucks and stalls. As for Paddock access, tickets will retail at RM10 on Saturday and RM20 on Sunday.

Be sure to join us on this exciting 2017 Finale and witness everyday people chasing their motor racing dreams!
