Syahrizal Jamaludin has said that the championship is not over yet going into the final round of the 2016 MSF series. After 3 rounds Syahrizal who is driving F Tuned Racing’s Honda Integra DC5R in the Race Car Open category is third in the championship standings behind LMC Racing’s Shazull Hisham and Pee Sau Peng of Fast Autoworks. And depending on the finishing order of the leading duo ahead of him in the finale, Syahrizal just might clinch the title when looking at his progress so far.

“Although the odds are stacked against us, I believe that we can still win, and no matter how hard it is, I will try my best to win the championship,” said Syahrizal. “F Tuned Racing is improving the car for the finale by focussing on the handling and it’s powertrain which would aid my title ambition, and looking at the last round, anything can happen and hopefully the result would be favourable to us.”

The F Tuned Racing driver lost some ground at the start of the MSF series when the team was a non-starter in the first round but they’ve been on the upward trend ever since. They were back in round 2 which gave them a better result when they finished 4th and they were even stronger in the Enduro with a 2nd place finish, with the latter result helping them to be in contention for the title.

“Considering the amount of top Malaysian race car drivers competing from round 2 onwards, I would say that overall we’ve made some progress in this tough competition. And bear in mind, these guys comes with some of the best equipped race cars built by reputable tuners which literally heats up the competition, and this is what the MSF is all about which in turn provide some great entertainment for the fans,” said Syahrizal.

Team boss Wan Ahmad Farouk echoed Syahrizal sentiments, “As the competition gets stronger with every round this has allowed us to be more creative in finding ways on how to improve our performance, and we are constantly learning new things, which is good.”

“For the final round we’ve made some changes to the engine set-up mainly to the intake system, re-tune the engine management, and we’ve added some new aerodynamics parts at the front and rear of the car. So hopefully this would improve the car’s overall performance.” added Farouk.

Looking ahead to race day, Syahrizal says that he has a simple strategy in his bid for the title crown. “Further to what I’ve indicated earlier, what I would do is to just keep going and score as many points as possible and hope for the best,” he said.
