Fast Lap Autoworks driver Faidzil Alang is looking to salvage the season by going for a win in the final round of the 2016 MSF. Faidzil was in contention for the Race Car Open category drivers’ crown throughout the season, but a technical mistake during the Enduro round has hurt his chances. Heading to the season finale Faidzil is fifth in the standings, and even if the unexpected circumstances happens to the drivers ahead of him, he still has a very slim shot at the title.

On a positive note Faidzil is hoping to finish the season on a high with his first win. “I would have liked to be in contention for the championship title till the very end, seriously. So my goal now is to fight for the win in the finale and finish the season on a high which would boost morale and especially for the team who has worked so hard. I guess it’s going to be a bitter-sweet finale for me,” said Faidzil.

Faidzil has had a season of ups and downs but has shown that he’s got a package that has displayed some good raw pace performances, eventhough they are at a deficit in terms of engine horsepower compared to their rivals.

Faidzil who is the head of Fawster Suspension has collaborated with renowned drag car builder Fast Lap Autoworks for the 2016 MSF season, with him providing expertise on chassis set-up. “Fast Lap Autoworks is a remarkable team, and they’ve learnt how to build a very competitive race car real quick, and we are very happy to be working with them. Together, we now have one of the quickest car on the grid with improvements shown in every round.”

The Honda Civic EG6 which they have dubbed the ‘Rocket Lemon’ will feature a new engine for the finale to make up the horsepower deficit and Faidzil hopes that this would give him the boost that he needs to achieve his target. “Previously we were running with a K20 engine built by Fast Lap Autoworks. While the performance was superb, it was still not strong enough to go against some of our rivals. So for the finale we’ll be running with a K24 engine and hopefully with the ideal balance that we’ve had previously with the car, we’ll get our first win of the season,” said Faidzil.

Reflecting on his MSF season Faidzil said that he is enjoying every moment while adding that the collaboration with Fast Lap Autoworks has made him sharper in terms of his driving performance. “I feel really good to be racing in the MSF, meeting some old friends and racing against them. And hopefully I’ll be be on the grid next season and adding the Saga Cup on the list too. Aside from that, Fast Lap Autoworks has given me a very good race car and with the combination of our Fawster suspension, has made me go even faster and I feel that my driving is also getting better and more competitive, judging from the lap times. So it’s credit to Fast Lap Autoworks and I need a competitive car like this to keep me in-check,” commented Faidzil.

“The team and I are really looking forward to delivering a strong performance this weekend at the finale. The MSF atmosphere is really unique, and we get incredible support from our friends and fans. Even if we can no longer win the title, by just being on the starting grid and working with this team has inspired me to work harder and to round off the season with a decent result at the finale.” Faidzil concluded.
